Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia Events

 
 

Memorial Day Events

To commemorate Memorial Day, flags will be placed on all grave sites and the Avenue of Flags will be erected along the circle drive on Friday, May 23, 2008. Flags will remain until Tuesday, May 27, 2008.

The annual Memorial Day Remembrance and Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held Monday, May 26, 2008 at 10 a.m. This event will be hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chapter 7819 from Crewe, Virginia. A guest speaker has been invited and the ceremony will include a color guard and music.

The administration office will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to assist veterans and their families with grave site location, general information, and filling out the cemetery pre-application form.

Veterans Day Events

The administration office will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11 to assist veterans and their families with grave site location, general information, and filling out the cemetery pre-application form.

Other Holidays

On Easter Sunday, Mothers Day, and Fathers Day, cemetery staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to assist families visiting their loved one’s grave site.

Submitting your pre-application

If you wish to complete the pre-application process during your visit, please bring the following documentation. The pre-application process takes about ten minutes.

  • Military discharge paperwork (normally your DD-214 or Form 53)
  • Copy of records showing you are a resident of Virginia. This could be your Virginia driver's license or Virginia ID card.
  • Marriage certificate if appropriate.
The cemetery staff looks forward to visiting with and assisting each family.
