Domestic Violence
Domestic violence and emotional abuse are behaviors used by a person in a relationship to control the other. Partners may be married or not married; heterosexual, gay or lesbian; living together, separated or dating.

Military Sexual Trauma

Free counseling and treatment offered at VA for mental and physical health conditions related to military sexual trauma (MST). Veterans do not need to have a VA disability rating, have reported MST, or have other documentation of the experience to get this care.

VVFS can also provide peer and family support and linkages to VA and community-based trauma treatment and Benefits staff can assist with filing MST claims. We are here to help.

Employment
One of the most prevalent issues facing veterans today is employment. Veterans unemployment rates have surpassed those of their civilian counterparts and continue to rise.

Financial
Financial hardship can be expected among todays veterans given the primary burden of unemployment. Connecting veterans to resources to assist with job applications and open opportunities is the best way combat financial struggles.

Health Administration
Veterans of the U. S. Armed Forces have spent their time serving our country and may be eligible for enhanced benefits through many different agencies.

This page contains a listing of state and national Health Services; which includes information about provision of treatment, support and information to persons in need of medical or dental care.

Housing/Homelessness
This page contains state and national housing and homeless resources for veterans.

Legal
This page contains a listing of state and national Legal Services which provide information about consultation and legal representation that are available for free or at discounted rates for a variety of situations including, but not limited to: VA and Social Security claims, civil matters, and other non-criminal proceedings.

One of the best ways to relieve stress and improve mood is through activity.

Mental Health Services
This page contains a list of national resources for veterans in need of Mental Health Services which provide: treatment, support and information to persons experiencing a psychological or emotional crisis, a traumatic event, or substance abuse or addiction including misuse of medications.

Military Children
There are over 2,000,000 military children in the United States that face unique challenges such as multiple deployments, moving, an injury to a loved one and in some cases the loss of a loved one.

Re-entry Roadmap for Veterans Incarcerated in Virginia

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Virginia Department of Veterans Services, Virginia Veteran and Family Support, and the Virginia Department of Corrections have partnered together to develop this roadmap resource guide to create a smoother transition for veterans and their families when entering back into the community.
