“The bearer of this card has contributed to the Yvonne Adoption Fund 344th Bomb Group, 478th Air Serv. Group.” In August 1945, while stationed in Belgium, the men of the U.S. Army Air Forces' 344th Bomb Group took part in a system of philanthropy that occurred among American troops during the war. Service members sponsored orphaned children and attempted to provide entertainment and hope for them in war-torn Europe.
