DVS announces two special events this week, on September 10, join us at the Veteran Benefits and Resource Fair in Lebanon, Virginia at the Russell County Conference Center, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. and for our Patriot Day Ceremony, on September 11 at the Virginia War Memorial, to honor and reflect on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Both events are free and open to the public.
Join us Saturday, September 12, 2026, @ 10:30 am at the Virginia War Memorial for a free program for kids. Enjoy an educator-led reading of children’s history book "Unfurling the Freedom Flag" by Tara Riley Krohn and color your own Freedom Flag and make patriotic crafts . Families are welcome with the recommended age for kids being 4 to 10 years old.
Special program bonus is the opportunity to meet members of the Freedom Flag Foundation!
Bring your little history buffs for a memorable, hands-on learning experience!
Preregistration is not required to attend, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
