Army 250th Birthday Celebration

Join us at the Virginia War Memorial's E. Bruce Heilman Amphitheater Friday, June 13, 2025 for the Army 250th Birthday Celebration in partnership with VA250. This event is open to the public. Army veterans encouraged.

The Virginia War Memorial proudly stands as a leading partner in the Commonwealth’s efforts to commemorate the 250th anniversaries of—the Army, the Navy, and the Marine Corps—throughout the VA250 initiative.

As America approaches the Semiquincentennial, the Virginia War Memorial’s role as a premier site of remembrance, education, and inspiration uniquely positions it to honor these milestone events. Beginning with the 250th Birthday of the United States Army, the Memorial will host signature ceremonies that elevate the stories of service, sacrifice, and commitment to American ideals, born in the struggle for independence and carried forward by every generation of patriots.

This inaugural event for the Army’s 250th birthday will set the tone: blending historical reverence, patriotic music, living history, ceremonial traditions, and the active participation of new Army recruits and honored veterans. Through programs like these, the Virginia War Memorial ensures that Virginia’s critical role in America’s founding story is not only remembered, but relived, rekindled, and re-committed to by all Americans.

The Memorial’s partnership with VA250 aims to educate, engage, and inspire — ensuring the values born in the Revolution live anew through the birthday celebrations of our Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

As the first of these landmark celebrations, the Army’s 250th birthday at the Virginia War Memorial will reflect a powerful message:
We honor our past by inspiring the future.
