Sunday, March 29, 2026 is officially National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The Virginia War Memorial will hold a special Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m on Friday, March 27 to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of Virginia’s Vietnam-era military veterans.
The Open House will include a curator’s table of historical memorabilia from the Vietnam War era, oral history interviews of Vietnam veterans, the Memorial’s traveling exhibit, “50 Year’s Beyond: The Vietnam Veteran Experience.” There will also be continuous showings of the Memorial’s Virginians at War series of Vietnam war related documentary films in the Reynolds Theater and docent-led tours of the inspiring Shrine of Memory-20th Century where the panels listing the Virginia service members killed during the Vietnam War are engraved.
Special 50th Anniversary Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins will be presented to all Vietnam veterans who have not yet received one. All veterans who served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces at any time between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, anywhere in the world, are eligible to receive one Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin.
