The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) has 38 offices across the Commonwealth to serve service members, veterans, and their families. DVS also maintains three veterans cemeteries, four veteran skilled nursing facilities (care centers), and the Virginia War Memorial.

Service Area

The counties of Brunswick, Charlotte, Greensville, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Southampton, and Sussex; the city of Emporia.

Hours

All central region offices will be closed to the public Monday, July 20, 2026 for quarterly training. We look forward to serving you on Tuesday, July 21. 

The South Hill Office operating hours are Monday — Friday 8:00 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Veterans will be seen from 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Customer appointments are available online or via phone, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments are highly recommended. Walk-ins may be seen around appointments, time permitting, but walk-in service is not guaranteed.

Our office will be closed to the public on the last business day of the month.
