Virginia War Memorial Announces New Monthly Saturday Morning Children's Programs: Storytime at the Memorial

The Virginia War Memorial is pleased to announce a new educational and entertaining series of programs for children called Storytime at the Memorial.

The free programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month from February 8 through June 14 in the Memorial’s Russell Scott Hall.  Each program will include the reading of a children’s book by an experienced educator and themed craft activities.  Storytime at the Memorial programs are free and open to all children and their families with a suggested age of 4-10 years old.

February 8: Black History Month

No pre-registration is required to attend and participate in Storytime at the Memorial. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Admission to the Virginia War Memorial and to the programs is free.  The Virginia War Memorial is located at 621 South Belvidere Street, Richmond, VA 23220. Ample free parking is available in the Memorial’s surface lot and underground decks. The Memorial’s exhibit halls are open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. And Sunday from 12 noon-4 p.m. The Memorial’s grounds are open from dawn to dusk daily.

About the Virginia Department of Veterans Services

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is a state government agency with more than 50 locations across the Commonwealth of Virginia. DVS traces its history to 1928 and the establishment of the Virginia War Service Bureau to assist Virginia’s World War I veterans.  Today, DVS assists veterans and their families in filing claims for federal veterans benefits; provides veterans and family members with linkages to services including behavioral healthcare, housing, employment, education, and other programs.
