Military Veterans & Spouses Invited To Sign Up For Hiring Event Prior To Dominion Energy Classic Golf Tournament

Virginia Department of Veteran Services & WestRock Team Up To Offer Job Seekers Opportunity to Meet & Interview with Major Employers

Military veterans seeking employment with some of Virginia’s top employers are invited to attend the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Hiring Event presented by WestRock, Monday, October 16 in Richmond.

The event, free to registered veterans, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Country Club of Virginia, James River Course, 709 South Gaskins Road, prior to the practice rounds of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic Golf Tournament. Military Veterans and spouses who wish to register should click here.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is scheduled to kick-off the one-day hiring event and welcome veterans and corporate representatives attending.  The goal is to give Virginia veterans and transitioning serve members the opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives of many of the Commonwealth’s top employers who have committed to hiring veterans.

According to Alison Foster, Program Manager, for the Virginia Transition Assistance Program (VTAP) at the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS), the hiring event is open to all veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, members of the National Guard or Reserve, military spouses and active duty service members with less than three months remaining until their separation (EAS/ETS).

Virginia employers scheduled to participate in the Hiring Event include APEX, Dominion Energy, Hourigan Construction, Newport News Shipbuilding, Prism, Raytheon, Intellidyne, Carillion Clinic, and more.

“Those wishing to participate must pre-register online by October 12,” Foster said. “Those who pre-register will be automatically enrolled in two pre-event webinars on interviewing, resume writing and networking. Lunch will be provided to registered attendees and there is no charge for parking.”

“We are very grateful to WestRock for sponsoring the V3 Hiring Event.  We also wish to thank Dominion Energy and the PGA TOUR for allowing us to host this hiring event onsite during the week of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.” Foster added.  “Events like this make a big difference in helping our military veterans transition to new civilian careers.”
