Virginia Department of Veterans Services Announces Cox Communications Is Premier Sponsor of 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit
6th Annual Event Scheduled May 16-17 in Hampton
The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) has announced that Cox Communications will serve as the premier sponsor of the 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit.
The 6th annual Women Veterans Summit will be held May 16 -17 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center and will focus on topics that address the unique issues and opportunities that face the more than 100,000 women military veterans who call Virginia their home. The theme of the Summit is Virginia Women Veterans Lead The Way.
“We are excited that Cox Communications has stepped forward as the major sponsor of our 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit,” said Annie Walker, DVS Director of Veteran Education, Transition and Employment. “The management at Cox has shown their belief in and commitment to hiring veterans and especially women veterans here in Virginia and throughout the United States. The support that Cox will provide both financially and through their communications channels will help assure that the 2019 Summit is our most successful ever.”

Up to 1,000 women veterans from throughout the Commonwealth are expected to attend the two-day Women Veterans Summit. There is no cost for Virginia women veterans to attend but space is limited and registration is required. A wide variety of topics of interest to women veterans will be covered including entrepreneurship, finances, fitness and health, career development, and more.
Invited speakers include Virginia’s First Lady Pamela Northam; Virginia Secretary of Veteran and Defense Affairs Carlos Hopkins; Delegate Kathleen Murphy; DVS Commissioner John L. Newby II; Nneka Chazor, Vice President, Government and Public Affairs, Cox Communications; Chanty Clay, Ph.D., Vice President, Human Resources, Wells Fargo; Seda Goff, Director, Veteran Entrepreneurship, PennFed Credit Union; and other distinguished experts.
