Virginia Veteran and Family Support Announces June is PTSD Awareness Month

June is PTSD Awareness Month.  PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress is a disorder that develops in some people who have seen or lived through a shocking, scary, or dangerous event.  Nearly everyone who lives through a traumatic situation will experience a range of reactions and most will recover from these experiences naturally with little impact on their life. However, some who are more severely impacted may continue to experience problems and may feel ongoing stress, may feel frightened or may feel this way even when danger is not near.  If you or someone you know is experiencing difficulty as a result of exposure to a traumatic event, get the basics and learn more about what you can do.  Veterans or family members who would like to receive more information, please visit http://www.ptsd.va.gov/about/ptsd-awareness/index.asp .
